The program is run over 10 weekly sessions of 1½ hour duration and both children and parents attend sessions run by provisionally registered psychologists. This program is designed to help parents build their child’s confidence and requires parents only to attend weekly 1½ hour sessions over 6 consecutive weeks. A cognitive behaviour therapy talking-based therapy focused on learning skills and techniques to assist children and their parents better manage their child’s anxiety. We can also investigate possible memory and learning problems. Likewise, material from the Managing Your Sleep program can be offered individually to adults. You may be asked if you are willing for a student to sit in and observe sessions, and may be offered the option of seeing an intern psychologist at a lower rate. Likewise material from the Managing Your Sleep program can be offered individually to adults via telehealth. Due to COVID-19 the University Psychology Clinic will not be providing face-to-face group programs for the remainder of 2020. However we can offer individual Cool Kids and Cool Little Kids intervention to families via telehealth. The UPC is a training clinic and therefore does not provide services for individuals requiring immediate support or crisis intervention. Please note, our clinic is not able to offer crisis or emergency services. We are currently accepting referrals for adult cognitive assessment and therapy services.
